We have so many talented students to boast about - here are the award winners for this year and what some of our students are doing now.
Our graduates continue to amaze us with the fabulous things they are doing, launching their makeup careers! As usual it was so difficult to choose winners as we had such a pool of talent to pick from:
- Bronwyn Rein – M.A.C.’s 'most promising fashion makeup artist'
- Kelly Anderson – Winner of the internship on South Pacific Picture’s ‘Shortland Street’
- Mel Pope – ‘Best Team Player’ (and great makeup artist)
- Kendal Ferguson – ‘Most Improved Artist’
- Phoebe Leonard – ‘Best Hair’
Here are a few things some of our students have been up to:-
Luci Hare graduated from The Makeup School November 2008 and now is a freelance makeup artist working on TV series such as Legend of the Seeker, Jackie Brown Diaries, TVNZ, music videos for great NZ artists like P-Money, PNC, Nesian Mystik and Recloose. She also worked full time on this years 2009 Wearable Arts competition in Wellington. Luci also works part-time doing admin for The Makeup School, she gets the best of both worlds.
Katie Beveridge graduated November 2009 and has taken on a job at MECCA Cosmetica in Ponsonby (and loving it) along side another graduate from 2008, Christina Loughlin who has the impressive job of store manager at MECCA.
Hanna Rickman, a recent graduate, worked on NZ Fashion Week 2009 Gucci show and is working at Stephen Marr in Takapuna.
Kate Wilcox has gone from strength to strength getting jobs that even experienced makeup artists would love to be offered. She was a regular freelancer for Legend of the Seeker (season 2) and was then a full time trainee makeup artist for the movie Ice. After doing such a great job she has gone on with the same team to work on the new feature Yogi Bear.
Graduates Kate Boyd and Cindy Shrosbee are freelancing for M.A.C. Cosmetics.
Matt Huckstep trained with The Makeup School in July 2009 and is now full time with the team on the TV series Go Girls produced by South Pacific Pictures. This is an amazing start to his career as a makeup artist.
Phoebe Leonard has been freelancing on the TV series Outrageous Fortune,
Niki Milina continues to work on the latest feature Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part II in London, UK.
Carmen Te Moananui and Bex Fennessy have just finished a busy full time season on the TV series Spartacus produced by Pacific Renaissance Pictures
Walt Disney’s – Legend of the Seeker makeup department are still as supportive as ever. There are a pool of makeup artists on call on a regular basis out on their set and gaining so much experience.
Mel Pope and Charlotte Murphy have just finished on the TV series NZ’s Next Top Baker which was a great job for them straight out of The Makeup School.
All our students have been doing lots of other jobs including doing makeup for the premiere of Under The Mountain and Thin Lizzies latest TV commercial.
Sorry for all of you that haven’t been mentioned but we are so proud of all of you and your achievements to date. Keep in touch and keep the passion!
